Shea Nuts to Shea Butter – Milling

Milling is done after the crushed shea  nuts are roasted and cooled. Milling breaks the nuts down to finer particles in preparation for the next step of extraction. The women use a semi mechanical mill for this process. Due to shortage of financing, most producers use a common mill that is used in processing other products. It is recommended that a dedicated mill be used for Shea Butter production to eliminate contaminants and debris.
