One of the most straightforward means of adding value to any commodity is the processing of raw material into higher-value end-products – in this case the extraction of shea butter from shea nuts. Companies like Agrobotanicals (Nigeria), Sekaf (Ghana) and Agbanga Karite (Togo)  have made a commitment to add value to local communities by doing a large part of the shea butter production in the local community before shipping abroad.
